Test Your Lightroom Classic Knowledge With My Free Quiz

Most of us use a surprisingly narrow slice of Lightroom Classic. You import the way you have always imported, reach for the same four sliders, export with the preset you built years ago, and the programme quietly gets on with it. Fluency in the parts you use every day is not the same thing as knowing the software, and the gap between the two is usually invisible until something asks you to find it.

This quiz asks. It draws 30 questions at random from a bank of 220, spread across eight areas of Lightroom Classic, from importing and masking through to exporting and troubleshooting. Score 75% or higher to download a certificate. It is free, takes about 15 minutes, and requires no account to create.

Answers are shuffled every time, so a second attempt is a genuine second attempt rather than a memory test. Enter your name and email below to begin, and you will get your result and a breakdown by topic as soon as you finish.

What The Quiz Covers

The 220 questions are divided into eight sections. Every attempt pulls from all of them, so you will always get a spread rather than 30 questions on the same subject.

Importing Images Into Lightroom Classic

The Import dialogue, file handling, building previews, and the difference between Copy, Move and Add. This is where most catalogue problems are quietly created.

Masking In Lightroom Classic

Subject and sky detection, luminance and colour ranges, intersecting masks, and situations where automatic selections become unreliable.

Global Adjustments

The Basic panel, tone curve, HSL, and the order in which adjustments actually interact with one another.

Keyboard Shortcuts

The shortcuts that make a real difference to how quickly you can work through a shoot, rather than the full list nobody memorises.

Exporting Images

Resize to fit, sharpening for output, colour space, file naming, and export presets. The section people are most confident about and score worst on.

Managing Your Images Using The Library Module

Collections, smart collections, keywords, flags, ratings and filters. The difference between a catalogue you can search and one you can only scroll.

Troubleshooting

Missing files, greyed-out panels, catalogue errors, and performance problems. What has actually gone wrong, and what merely looks as though it has.

Using Presets And Profiles

What separates a preset from a profile, when each belongs in your workflow, and why the distinction matters more than it first appears.

How The Scoring Works

Each question has one correct answer and three incorrect ones, and the four are shuffled on every attempt. There is no time limit and no penalty for a wrong answer, so there is nothing to gain from rushing.

The pass mark is 75%, which is 23 out of 30 questions. Pass, and you can download a certificate with your name on it. Below that, you will still get a full breakdown showing which of the eight sections cost you marks, along with the correct answer to everything you got wrong. That breakdown is the useful part. Most people find their weakest section is not the one they expected.

Who The Quiz Is For

I wrote these questions for photographers who already use Lightroom Classic and want an honest measure of where they stand. It is not an introduction to the software. If you have never opened the Develop module, this will be a frustrating 15 minutes.

If you have been using it for a few years and have never had cause to find out what you do not know, that is precisely who it is for. Have a go and see where you land.
